Aluminium Association of India is the representative body of the entire spectrum of the Indian Aluminium Industry. In its brief existence of over 2 decades, it has carried out several challenging tasks to meet its objectives and help serve the domestic aluminium industry and its members. As a part of Association’s greatest desire to emphasize on the Brown field and Green field expansion, several promotional measures have been undertaken, in association with Government agencies and in its individual capacity as well.
AAI has undertaken the task of publishing a book on Bauxite entitled “Bauxite Resources of India” with a view to project future demand and supply and highlight the need for green field developments in alumina and aluminium metal industry with the availability of mineral resources in our country.
The book is authored by a renowned geologist Mr. K.S.Raju, who has held the office as Controller general of Indian Bureau of Mines later as Director in Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Development and Design Centre (JNARDDC) and has spent most of his service on studies on mineral deposits in India, in particular Bauxite.
Mr. Raju has 36 years of experience in the field of mineral characterization, mineral beneficiation and mining He was the Director of Mineral Processing Division in Indian Bureau of Mines and controller General of Indian Bureau of Mines. He was also holding additional charge of Jawaharlal Nehru Aluminium Research Centre (JNARDDC). He was a life member of IIME, Mining Engineers Association of India (MEAI) and Mining, Geological and Metallurgical Institute (MGMI) and also the President of Indian Institute of Mineral Engineers (IIME).
He was a member of many Working Groups and Committees constituted by Government of India and was a member of organizing committees of various Seminars related to Mining and Metallurgy. He has widely traveled in connection with many international programmes, seminars etc. He is a co-author of a publication entitled “Mineral Resources and Beneficiation plant practices in India”. He is a member of Board of Directors of NALCO (as non official). Since his retirement from Indian Bureau Mines in 2004 he is actively associated with Aluminium Association of India in various programmes. |
